Summary of intervention

Based on excerpts from recent movies (Lincoln and Django Unchained), Mr. Bogues examine how the issue of the memory of slavery in the United States evolved over the centuries and how it is integrated into the American collective memory.

He will present how the memory of slavery was raised in both films and historical narratives which are disseminated to the American public in the context of the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation celebrated this year.

This presentation, conducted in English, will be fully translated simultaneously and will be followed by discussions with Mr. Anthony Bogues.
